Restaurant 21 opened its doors in November 2023 in a beautifully renovated monumental building at 23 Peperstraat in Amsterdam. Located in a historic neighbourhood near Waterlooplein and the Scheepvaartmuseum, this location exudes a unique atmosphere.
Orlando David, the owner of Restaurant 21, is an Amsterdam top chef of Chilean-Colombian descent with a rich culinary background. After years of experience in renowned restaurants in the Netherlands, he has created his own fine dining concept with Restaurant 21 where all his experience comes together.
At "R21", Orlando David is known for his international, evolving cuisine with an emphasis on high-quality produce. His passion for travelling and discovering cuisines worldwide inspires the menu, which reflects his global culinary adventures. David's philosophy is that chefs should not be restricted in using ingredients from around the world.

Vorige week was ik met een collega bij R21, in Peperstraat nummer 23 (!), dat vond ik wel grappig! Het ligt in hartje Amsterdam, dus trendy locatie en vlak bij centraal station, dus goed bereikbaar. Wij begonnen met steak tartaar met curry en radijs, zie foto, een geweldige start. Daarna zeebaars, ook top, en vervol...

Daarna zeebaars, ook top, en vervolgens eend met cantharellen en ook groene asperges, wouw! Eaa aangevuld met mooie bijpassende wijnen, geweldig. Belangrijk ook om steeds dezelfde ober te hebben, hij regelde alles prima, met veel humor.
Afgesloten door mij met heerlijk zoet dessert, en door mijn collega met een rij kaasjes, verwennerij!
Dus R 21: een tip voor liefhebbers van trendy en lekker eten in hartje Amsterdam
Alles klopte, de locatie, de bediening en vooral de voortreffelijke gerechten met bijpassende wijnen. Een pareltje in Amsterdam!
Heerlijk gegeten van aparte gerechten, er had iets meer tijd tussen de gangen mogen zitten.
