Restaurant 21 opened its doors in November 2023 in a beautifully renovated monumental building at 23 Peperstraat in Amsterdam. Located in a historic neighbourhood near Waterlooplein and the Scheepvaartmuseum, this location exudes a unique atmosphere.
Orlando David, the owner of Restaurant 21, is an Amsterdam top chef of Chilean-Colombian descent with a rich culinary background. After years of experience in renowned restaurants in the Netherlands, he has created his own fine dining concept with Restaurant 21 where all his experience comes together.
At "R21", Orlando David is known for his international, evolving cuisine with an emphasis on high-quality produce. His passion for travelling and discovering cuisines worldwide inspires the menu, which reflects his global culinary adventures. De bediening was top: vriendelijk, attent en professioneel. We voelden ons echt welkom. De sfeer in het restaurant was gezellig en stijlvol.
We komen hier zeker nog eens terug! Een echte aanrader voor liefhebbers van goed eten en gastvrijheid. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Vergeet als je in het weekend wilt gaan niet tijdig te reserveren!! ;)
We hebben heerlijk gegeten afgelopen zaterdag bij R21. Van de vriendelijke ontvangst, de sfeervolle interieur, van de eerste amuses tot de laatste bonbon. De 4 gangen menu was verrassend, met bijzondere en lekkere ingrediënten en smaken. De uitgebreide wijnkaart met veel mogelijkheden was echt super. Wij komen zeker terug.

I was so surprised during our meal that I went to check for the lowest ratings and was sad to see our experience was not unique.
Fantastic ingredients, but puzzling execution. The restaurant week menu seems to be a mediocre offering compared to their normal menu. We had duck as a main which was not great, the fat layer was scored as if to crisp it but it was chewy and felt undercooked, truly sad because it was otherwise nicely flavoured.
The highlight of the night for our table was the fantastic butter and a mushroom tartalette that we ordered from the “bites” menu. We also enjoyed the dessert which was panna cotta with blood orange sorbet.
