Description
Bistro La Cloche formerly known as Restaurant De Klok, this iconic establishment is restoring its original name and will now continue as Bistro La Cloche. Since 1975, De Klok has been a staple in Leiden, located in the most charming part of the old town, near the Pieterskerk. The vision was always to embrace a love for classic cuisine and service, offering ‘classics with a twist towards the present’ rather than ‘new with a nod to the past’.
In the beautiful, authentic building, the team continues to passionately and dedicatedly provide a delightful culinary experience. Year after year, they seek out dishes and wines from the classic cuisines of the world. The staff, who were very attentive and demonstrated good understanding of the ingredients and wines, made us feel exceptionally welcome despite the restaurant being full. They even created a superb alternative course to cater for my specific dietary preference.
The restaurant itself is nicely arranged, in smaller rooms, keeping noise controlled yet still keeping a lively feel. A well-maintained decorative fish tank was also a lovely, relaxing touch.
We had a fantastic evening - thanks to all the staff for their hard work in creating the experience for us!
We thoroughly enjoyed the true kraft of the shefs and the service. The 5 well thought and presented courses offered pleasures to all senses. The joy and pride of the stuff is contagious and most admirable. Thank you for the wonderful evening.
